Studio Prineas

Celebrating 20 Years of Studio Prineas with our clients

No.091     Swiss Box

“A year ago today we moved into our home on a rainy day. Today the house is more beautiful than ever. We cant thankyou enough. In the Mayan calendar, today is the end of the world. Hopefully we can enjoy it a bit longer”

No.232     Alpha House

“We sought a home where our family could thrive and celebrate life’s milestones. With consideration to our lovely old Jacaranda tree and garden; Studio Prineas devised a beautiful, functional space. We love the voluminous, light filled spaces, rich colour palette and attention to detail which make time at home joyful and relaxing.”

No.273     Yerrabin

“We are so proud to have had Studio Prineas design our home. From the moment we sat down with Eva-Marie, Alice and Grace and they discussed their ideas for resurrecting my family’s tired, but well loved bungalow, we knew we were in good hands. We felt so excited as they unveiled the design for each room and their choice of finishes. Not only did they give us what we asked for, but they went beyond this and designed spaces we hadn’t imagined and didn’t know we needed, but now can’t live without. This includes our mud room, extra large studies, double island kitchen benches and generous storage that is so integral to a home for a family of six. Their innovative design expertise is a testament to their decades of experience.

As medical professionals with no knowledge of design, we valued engaging a team in whom we had trust and confidence to make big architectural decisions on our behalf. We could see the stunning results of their previous projects on their website.

From the colour palette, to the tiles, veneer, stone and lighting- everything has come together to create a warm and inviting environment. Our friends and family, and particularly my parents, who have a strong sentimental attachment to the house, are overcome by its beauty and the cohesion between the old and the new. This will be the backdrop of our family celebrations, milestones and memories for generations to come.”

No.165     No 56

“10 years on and our house still gets ‘wow’ from all our friends. Clean, timeless, functional and warm are just some of the wonderful words used. In today’s world where it’s about bigger and more, we love our modernised red brick house where it’s quality over quantity! Thanks Eva-Marie and team… you have inspired our now 11 year old to explore architecture as a potential career.”

No.162     Bay House

“I knew after meeting Eva-Marie and her team that I could have complete confidence in them delivering a timeless and stylishly sophisticated architectural design and interiors, which was certainly our experience!

I loved Eva-Marie‘s positive energy, and always looked forward to our meetings. She has the ability to steer you in the right direction and take the stress out of the process.

For me, the practice is at the forefront of their style of architecture, creating clean, uncomplicated and light filled spaces complimented by furnishings and finishes which echo architectural design elements harmoniously. Something we feel in all the spaces of our home.”

No.256    Doria

“Having worked with Eva-Marie and her team on a couple of projects, I have always found them easy but also “challenging” to work with.

I use the word “challenging” as I often have to challenge my own thoughts and perceptions when new design ideas are presented.

The process starts off pretty stressful as you enter the unknown, but once you overcome the uncertainty, and trust the process and new ideas, the end result never disappoints.”

No.131   Paddington Terrace

“I was introduced to Eva Marie and Studio Prineas back in 2012 by a local real estate agent. I was the the proud owner of a gorgeous Victoria Terrace and was keen to bring it back to life and make it fit for modern day family living while respected its heritage.

I had never used the services of an architect, was unsure of my style and quite nervous about the project. I didn’t need to be worried, I was in safe hands from the word go with the Prineas team which is super important because the relationship is long term not short term when you take on a big renovation of a heritage property. By the end of our journey together I had the home of my dreams that was published in several publications, but I had also learnt so much about good design, my style and sustainability along the way. Studio Prineas fostered my love of architecture, renovating and beautiful homes in general and I am forever grateful for that.”

No.013    House Sturrock Spencer

“It was through a very dear mutual friend who introduced us to Eva-Marie back in 2004. As we embarked on a renovation with Eva-Marie we were also building our family.  Eva-Marie transformed our little semi through her vision and expertise into a gorgeous but intelligently designed home. Her calm guidance through the process was invaluable. We are truly grateful to have lived in such a beautiful home as a family of 5 from 2006 until late 2023 when we finally grew out of our home with three large teenagers in tow.”

No.223    New Line House

“Working with Eva-Marie and her team was a joy from the outset. The ability to listen and understand is crucial to the architect-client relationship and from the first meeting with Eva-Marie we knew that she fully understood what we wanted because she listened so carefully to our articulation of both our practical needs for our home, and the emotional foundation upon which those needs were predicated. The process which followed was collaborative in every way, with the clear direction Eva-Marie set being a beautifully realised understanding of both our brief and of the context in which the house was set. The final product exceeded our expectations, being both a beautiful, warm family home and an incredible piece of design. The different spaces Eva-Marie and her team envisaged have created a natural flow for family life, spaces which reflect the colours and the contours of the rocks and the eucalypts which surround our home.”

No.196     House Gezellig

“As an older couple, we had lived in many houses and knew which places we loved and those we didn’t. We didn’t want just any competent architect to build the home of our dreams. We wanted an architect that created places that made our hearts sing. Something beautiful and functional. Something that would feel like a home, not just a house. Our brief was big on hope and short on detail…we wanted light and space. We kept talking about mid-century modern. Not much to work with but Eva-Marie understood us – drawing inspiration from Richard Neutra she produced a gem.

A common question I’m asked by people is ‘how bad was the renovation experience? Isn’t it a nightmare? Did you sack your architect halfway? I can honestly say we actually enjoyed our renovation journey with Eva-Marie. It was actually a fun and exciting time. A grand adventure of creating a home.

We were reassured when we met people in the industry who spoke highly of Studio Prineas. One even confided to us that they were one of the few architects in the business who finish projects on good terms with their clients. It felt like a true collaboration. She really understood what sort of people we were and listened to our needs. She also knew our budget was fixed and was mindful of the cost. Even the inevitable minor design disagreements we  ‘thought would look better ‘ were handled with the diplomacy and tact of a diplomat. A number of our ‘tweaks’ Eva-Marie was happy to incorporate, but there were times when the integrity of the design was paramount and Eva-Marie stood firm. Always with a smile on her face.  It was at those times we told ourselves to trust the process. We’d chosen to work with Eva-Marie because she designs wonderful houses. Clearly her vision and experience was wider than ours. We chose her due to her skill. We wouldn’t tell a skilled surgeon how to operate would we? The best example of this was the great travertine floor debate of 2020, which we still laugh about to this day. And yes, Eva-Marie was right when she said to trust her regarding the finished product.

Eva-Marie’s passion is obvious. She employs passionate, talented people. Jacqueline had an artist’s eye for texture, colours and design. Our builder was equally skilled and had the utmost integrity. We felt that we were in safe hands. The result was a unique home that brings us joy and feels cosy, homely and very functional. Truly a blend of artistry and skill. We felt part of a team. So many fond memories and a few martini’s along the way.”
