Eva-Marie Prineas elevated to a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects

” Eva-Marie Prineas has been a long-standing contributor to the Australian Institute of Architects, illustrated by her co-founding of Darch in 2004 (now the NSW branch of EMAGN, the emerging architects and graduates network), where she served as chair and a member for six years, followed by eight years as a chapter councillor. She is currently active in the Small Practice Forum. Always supportive of the Institute and the profession, Eva-Marie has participated in numerous Institute award juries, taught design and professional practice at four universities, and served as both chair and member on university accreditation review panels. She continues to serve as an examiner for the architect registration exam at the NSW Board of Architects. after establishing Studio Prineas in 2004, her practice has positioned itself as a specialist in residential projects that prioritise environmental sustainability and often include heritage conservation. As the sole shareholder, Eva-Marie has successfully guided Studio Prineas to achieve B-corp certification, which highlights her commitment to socially and environmentally responsible business practices.

Eva-Marie’s dedication to mentoring and fostering a positive workplace culture has led Studio Prineas to receive the 2024 Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter best in practice award. The studio has collaborated with leading architectural firms to secure several design excellence competitions from the City of Sydney. Her residential projects and design processes have established her as an advocate for environmentally conscious, high-quality design, as well as responsible business practices. Eva-Marie backs this up with appearances in podcasts, films, and the media.

Through her ongoing advocacy for quality design to be achievable for all, along with her mentoring and practice development efforts, Eva-Marie demonstrates that a lasting and substantive impact of small practices is attainable for emerging and developing architects. With over twenty years dedicated to supporting and advancing the architectural profession, Eva-Marie Prineas is a worthy recipient of Life Fellowship.”
